The Museum is hosting a large display relating to the American Forces training for the assault on French beaches on the 6th June 1944 . Interactive screen to enable you to pin-point details, and a video showing the training which took place on the Burrows and Saunton Beach.
This will be running from April until September 2019.
Also we have stocks of 'Devon D-Day Heritage Trail of the North Devon Coast'.

New Display in Museum.
The Museum have recently put together a new display board to show the history of Braunton Marshes, which are very much in the thoughts of the village due to the damage to the sea wall on Horsey Island.
To go with this display, we have installed a video screen showing an interview with a Conservator explaining how the marshes are drained.
Museum Model Railway.
Come and see what Braunton Railway Station looked like in the 1950's.
We have built a large scale model of the Station area, which can be operated by the public, (costs 20p for 5 minutes !)
There are a lot of photos and drawing to explain where the station was sited, between Caen Street and the Police Station. The site is now occupied by the main village Car Park and Medical Centre.
The Surf Museum building was the Goods Shed and Wensley's Newsagent shop was the Station Masters House.
Free admission to the museum, donations appreciated though.

Combe Rail is an exciting new project to establish a community and heritage railway on part of the track-bed of the former Barnstaple and Ilfracombe Railway, between Braunton and Barnstaple. The museum is a supporter of their efforts.
